Home Instruction for Parents of Pre-school Youngsters (H.I.P.P.Y.):

The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program is an early education program that believes that the love of learning begins at home. Housed at William Pinderhughes Elementary/Middle School, HIPPY serves the areas of; Sandtown/ Winchester, Harlem Park, and Druid Heights.

HIPPY has a team of trained Home Visitors that facilitate the program, in the home with approximately one hundred families yearly. These Home Visitors train the families of three, four, and five year olds for thirty weeks with a standardized HIPPY curriculum. With HIPPY, parents learn how to prepare their pre-school children to be “ready to learn”, thereby creating a better educational environment in their home, in their school, and in their community from the earliest years.

HIPPY has partnered with the Community Resource Center at William Pinderhughes Elementary/Middle School and is able to refer families to their resources.
